Here's some fresh positive news from Club Fearless member Morten Spindler Gaedt in Denmark.
Patients in the recovery section at Aarhus University Hospital need much less medication when they wake up to music. The use of analgesic and sedative drugs can be reduced by up to 50 percent if a patient is allowed to wake up after an operation with gentle music in the ears.
The hospital staff has experimented with music for awakening purposes for several years and has worked with Maysound to develop a "music bar" which can be placed around the patient's head, writes magazine Southern, published by Region Midtjylland.
The music is nature-based and gives most patients a sense of peace and security. Two thirds of patients make use of the hospital's special composed music, while the other third wants mostly New Age, classical or music by artist Kaare Norge.
A study has shown that 98 percent of patients in the recovery room are satisfied with the soothing music.
