Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency (or BOSS) is a community-based organization that provides housing and services in the San Francisco Bay Area to help families and individuals overcome homelessness. On October 7th they are having a celebration in the spirit of Sesa Woruban -- a Ghanaian symbol meaning TRANSFORMATION -- to honor positive change during challenging times.
BOSS is having a writing contest on the theme of transformation. They will award prizes in 4 categories: Kids age 11 and under, Youth 12-17, Young adult 18-25, and Adult. Winners may be asked to read their writing at the event, which will be held at the First Unitarian Church of Oakland.
You may submit any type (poetry, prose and essays, songs, spoken word), of any length, and on any kind of Transformation you have witnessed, experienced, or believe is meaningful.
